Portable X-Ray Machine - Digital Upgrade
The portable x-ray machine at the Walkerton Hospital is an essential tool for diagnosing critically ill patients who cannot transfer to the Diagnostic Imaging Department due to trauma, distress, physical limitations and surgical cases.
The portable x-ray machine also provides back-up to the main x-ray machine during preventative maintenance or unscheduled downtime.
The portable x-ray machine at the Walkerton Hospital currently uses Computed Radiography technology, which uses cassettes to transfer images. This piece of equipment is the last within South Bruce Grey Health Centre to use this type of technology. The retrofit of the current equipment will reduce radiation, improve image quality and patient safety, and allow the technologist to view the image at the bedside within 3 seconds.
